Nitro trial as a game mode
Posted by: Asher3theG - 09-09-2025, 08:03 PM - Forum: Game development - Replies (5)

Right now, you can play nitro challenge through the Shifting Sands and XR591 story mode and not as a game mode.
The reason for this thread is to maybe add nitro trial as a game mode

Extra Suggestions
Maybe to be able to play it;

1. With an option to toggle limited time
2. With AI
3. Online (?)

What do you think? Let me know with a kind reply.

Video Are you guys going to make the AI harder for SuperTuxKart Evolution?
Posted by: Asher3theG - 08-09-2025, 07:14 PM - Forum: Game development - Replies (6)

Right now, the AI is way too easy to beat, even on the SuperTux difficulty, and in the "On the way towards 1.5 and 2.0" blog post, it says that they are going to make the AI harder in SuperTuxKart Evolution, so that it'll be more fun to play against. Are there still going to be any plans for that or is it just abandoned?

  Teams in Normal Race
Posted by: anon - 07-09-2025, 05:01 PM - Forum: Game development - Replies (1)

I would really enjoy having teams in normal race mode multiplayer, mainly for making team members immune to accidental strikes, or setting the difficulty as high as possible and trying to all finish before the computers. It allows for more haphazard deployment of powerups, which is fun. What are your thoughts?

  Grandma mode
Posted by: anon - 07-09-2025, 04:56 PM - Forum: Game development - Replies (2)

I would like a setting (maybe per player) to always put the player ahead of the computers, or give them a headstart- like 'bully mode' for grand prix, but opposite. Multiplaying with less experienced players calls for reducing the computers Sad , or they can never manage to pass the mob.  In fact, a better solution might be to change the computer logic so the computers spread out, and don't cluster together as much.

Video Suggestion: Can I add end cameras to all standard tracks for STK v1.5?
Posted by: dylanf319 - 07-09-2025, 05:17 AM - Forum: General - Replies (19)

I've already added 15 standard tracks with end cameras, and I only have 3 more to finish it.

Here are 5 examples

3

would it be a good idea to add it for STK v1.5?, what do you think?

  Chaos around the track
Posted by: franklin.jr - 07-09-2025, 02:59 AM - Forum: Racing & Time-Trial - Replies (2)

After lots of playing, and after realizing I can put bubble gums in the middle of the track to confuse other karts, with fun effects such as making them collide with obstacles, or fall off the road (as they try to avoid bubble gums), I'd like to discuss more about these simple but fun tricks.

Because of this, why not create other "gifts" that can be collected by players, such as oil that leads karts to slip through some meters?

  What about a "selfish" mode?
Posted by: franklin.jr - 07-09-2025, 02:54 AM - Forum: Game development - Replies (1)

I was thinking about the idea of a "selfish" mode where only the human player (in single mode only, not in network gaming) can grab objects from blue packages around the track and throw them at other drivers. Might serve for casual gamers who wants to have fun at the expenses of computer drivers. Please have your say.

  iOS official version?
Posted by: NicolasLopes51 - 07-09-2025, 02:12 AM - Forum: Game development - Replies (2)

Any news on a possible release of an official version on iOS App Store? It's been in beta in Test flight for ages now. Thanks in advance. Best regards

Compiling the development version of STK Evolution
Posted by: Alayan - 06-09-2025, 11:36 PM - Forum: Game development - No Replies

There are no officially distributed testing binaries at this stage of development. Both code and assets are still a long way from what STK Evolution aims at.

However, some preliminary track updates and new tracks, as well as a majority of the planned racing gameplay changes, are available to people willing to compile the game themselves.

It is recommended that you already be familiar with how to build the normal version of the game before proceeding.

The code can be found on GitHub in a dedicated branch. It will be merged in the master branch later, after 1.5's release. This code is compiled following similar instructions to the regular version.

It also requires a few assets change. The simplest way however is to grab assets at Fouks repository. They contain the assets patch necessary for the new code to work, as well as alpha versions of a few new tracks and preliminary updates to some existing tracks. Have this stk-assets folder instead of the one from SVN next to the folder with stk-code when launching the built executable.

  Forum rules
Posted by: Alayan - 30-08-2025, 05:05 PM - Forum: Announcements - No Replies

Last updated on 15/09: added a new rule 8, rules 8 to 12 are now rules 9 to 13.

1. Use a language appropriate to the forum you are writing in. This is English except in the International Board. Ensure acceptable grammar and spelling.

2. When creating a new thread, use a descriptive title and ensure you are using the most appropriate forum. These forums are meant for discussions related to SuperTuxKart, avoid unrelated topics.

3. Make sure your posts are on-topic for the thread you are writing in. Reading previous messages in the thread is also important to make your post more relevant to the discussion.

4. Avoid low-effort posts: make sure your post contribute something of worth to the conversation.

5. Avoid multi-posting. If you just made a post and forgot to add something, edit your message instead of posting two messages in a row.

6. Do not use vulgar language, and remain respectful to others even when you disagree with them. These forums are meant to be a friendly place for all SuperTuxKart fans.

7. Do not abuse the formatting tools at your disposal. They are here to help you to make your messages clearer and prettier, not to confuse other users.

8. Avoid deleting messages and threads. The option is there if you realize you messed up, such as accidentally replying in the wrong thread, revealing personal information, or violating other forum rules. But if your message was perfectly fine and others replied to it, this can make threads hard to follow or remove potentially useful information from other users that might find the thread later. Moderation reserves the right to restore the message in this case.

9. Do not bring up controversial topics unrelated to the game, such as politics, faith, etc. This rule applies even if you believe that the controversy is unwarranted and one position is clearly right.

10. Do not post private information about others ('doxxing').

11. Do not post or promote illegal content (such as mods using copyright-protected content without authorization).

12. The above list of disruptive behaviors is not exhaustive. Be smart and don't try to game the rules.

13. Non-respect of these rules will lead to warnings and bans. Moderation will decide on the appropriate punishment by evaluating specific circumstances and past behavior.
