Nitro improvement and ideas for soccer

Hello!

First of all, I would like to congratulate everyone involved for the excellent work on the game.

I started playing recently and haven't explored all the modes yet. Despite this, I noticed that the nitro canisters (both small and large) provide a very small amount of energy. Would increasing the amount of energy provided by each nitro (where the small one fills half the displayed bars and the large one fills all the bars) be a good idea?

I also have a suggestion that racers in last place in a race with more than two participants should not suffer any penalty (the equivalent of having an infinite protective bubble until they leave last place).

I had some crazy ideas regarding soccer. I would like to know if it would be possible:

1- for players to be able to attach the ball to the kart to drive it more easily (for the opponent to take the ball in this circumstance it would be through items such as the explosive cake, the bowling ball or the plunger, or even through direct contact with the ball);

2- whenever they had the ball "attached to their kart," they would have a bowling ball to kick it into the goal or (in a new feature, using more or less the idea of a plunger) allow them to pass the ball to a nearby teammate.

Thank you in advance for your attention.

That would give the best players (soccer) far too much of an advantage.

No, that would be a very bad idea.

As is, in SuperTuxKart 1.5, there are several tracks where it's possible to collect nitro faster than it's used, especially with lighter karts (there are large differences in how quickly nitro is used up depending on kart class), and in many others the collection isn't very far behind use.

The values you suggest are extremely high and would destroy gameplay by making it so collecting a small fraction of the available nitro cans would be sufficient to be under permanent nitro boosts.

I think a few factors can explain your impression:
- In lower difficulties, it takes more time to complete a lap, but the amount of available nitro is the same,
- You may have used heavier karts that use up nitro quicker,
- You may be only collecting a portion of the available nitro,
- Nitro lasts significantly longer if you use it by short bursts instead of continuously, and as a new player you probably just use it up all at once.

For Evolution, there are some adjustments that would increase the nitro duration for new players (nitro gives less speed but lasts longer in lower difficulties, and the difference between continuous usage and burst usage has been reduced somewhat) but in general the direction has been the opposite, the same amount of nitro gets used up faster (although that applies more for lighter karts which had real difficulties using everything they could get).

Bonuses should be acquired by using powerups, not simply by being in some position on the track.

For Evolution, STK will have a new defense + speed powerup for karts in bad positions that help to protect them.

I understand where this comes from, as puck/ball control is very challenging. However, like LLS, I don't think that's a good idea.
