Can Someone Make An Addon Of BSOD From TuxKart 0.4.0?
Posted by: WiiGADD - 07-10-2025, 04:27 PM - Forum: Game development - Replies (8)

BSOD is the ONLY character (unless you count gown seperate to penny) from the TuxKart Series to be absent. Can someone make him an addon?

FunRacers, every Friday at 18:00 German time
Posted by: Sauss-Ente - 06-10-2025, 10:27 AM - Forum: Multiplayer Corner - Replies (5)

Some friendly Linux chap is hosting Supertuxkart races every Friday, 18:00 o'clock German time. So that would be UTC+2 in Summer time and UTC+1 in Winter time.

The server is called "FunRacers". Its special focus are addon tracks, which every player has to have at least 30 installed. This should be a middle-ground for more track variety but not becoming too annoying for having to install every scrap that's out there. The grunty old hard disk also says "Thank you"!
So to race on this server, every player can pick whatever 30 addons he/she likes. Exceptions are 6 specific tracks, which are mandatory, to actually have a bigger choice of tracks guaranteed. While being on the server, type "/moreinfo" in the chat window to see, which those mandatory tracks are. Download links are provided there as well.
Also, the server host did make a "connaisseur collection" of the 30 finest addon tracks, which are served in a zip file with decorative ribbons. Get the link for it through typing in "/moreinfo" as well. Just in case you want to get started immediately!

Experienced players are encouraged to play with Handicap so that racing becomes closer. But whatever. You can basically do, whatever you want. This first server is called "FunRacers", so expect to have some fun. Also, but this is just my personal feeling, you will find somewhat open ears for long-distance races there... however in the end, democrazy will decide, so no warranty!
The is a secondary server as well, which is called "FunRacers GP", and will be a series of races with some added up points standings. However only one of the two servers will be used per day to conserve bandwidth.

Photo Idea: Duke from Java
Posted by: Tuxito3000 - 05-10-2025, 06:26 PM - Forum: Game development - Replies (2)

It would be amazing to have Duke in SuperTuxKart. Here are my reasons: 1. Duke is the Java mascot and one of the most popular in open source. 2. It would attract more people to the game, as Java developers. 3. He has a lot of potential. 4. He's a very strange and mysterious character due to his appearance. I don't think there would be any problems if we added him because it's a BSD license.  Idea

  Discussions about this message board
Posted by: Sauss-Ente - 04-10-2025, 01:18 PM - Forum: Game development - No Replies

A thread for discussing things about this very nice message board is kind of necessary.

------------

I wonder how configurable this board is actually. Because it is a bit hard to keep track of new posts that were done since a week... since a month... maybe even since a year. "View Today's Posts" at the top bar is not optimal for a small board. There will barely be a single topic there in the list, so the range needs to be longer. Can it be changed?

Hole Drop as standard track for STK Evolution
Posted by: Aleksej33 - 01-10-2025, 08:58 PM - Forum: Game development - Replies (1)

Have I understood right Hole Drop will come as a new standard track to STK Evolution? Nice, I always loved the track and it will be definitely great to have a standard track apart of those we already have.
Are there gonna be more soccer maps included?

  Share your benchmark results
Posted by: Alayan - 01-10-2025, 05:37 PM - Forum: General - Replies (10)

SuperTuxKart has a built-in benchmark starting with version 1.5-beta. While it doesn't capture all the things that can challenge performance (such as network rewinding), it's still a useful measure of how performant your computer is with STK.

It's also useful for the STK team to know what kind of hardware is used to play the game and what performance people have, although we aim at not making the game more demanding than Black Forest currently is.

In this thread, share your own results! And let us know what kind of hardware, OS, etc. you ran the test on. If you used Vulkan,  If you want to test with multiple different settings to compare, that's even better.

Also please note that if you are using Vulkan, the parameter list at the end of the test will be misleading. Even at the same settings, there are some visual differences compared with the GL renderer.

On Linux, using a 13600K and a RTX 2060S, at graphics 6, I get 102/152/171 at 1080p and 79/114/127 at 1440p.

  Idea: LLVM Wyvern Boss
Posted by: Tuxito3000 - 01-10-2025, 01:05 AM - Forum: Game development - No Replies

My idea is that after freeing Gnu and finding a dragon egg hidden in STK Enterprise, the next time you go to Zen Garden you will get a cinematic where LLVM Wyvern flies and arrives at Zen Garden, annoyed he says YOU STOLE MY EGG AND YOU HAVE TO FIGHT ME and starts a battle against him[Image: LLVMWyvernBig.png]

  Bring Beagle Back To STK!

In my opinion, Beagle is a very underrated AND unspoken character. Give him some love by returning him!
