Bring Back Old Characters

I would like the most important open source mascots to be in the game, I saw that Dashie is going to be in the evolution and Mr. Iceblock. it would be good to see Beastie, Elephpant, Mozilla and Gooey back to. Please

Mozilla is impossible.

The name is trademarked and the Mozilla corporation/foundation makes sure it gets enforced. When CodingJellyfish wanted to add Mozilla in a year back, the Mozilla legal team reached out to notify that doing it without their permission is forbidden. Even if we got a permission, it would mean the kart would be under a very restrictive license.

We have no interest in trying to get such a permission.

Okay, Mozilla can't comeback, but what about Beastie, Elephpant, and Gooey. There are still images of STK logos with Beastie in it.

As I know right, license problems. Can't give you more information.

Is Beagle possible to return? Or is it another licensing issue? (There's so little info on him I can't even find which version he was removed in)

Beagle could be because, I don't think there is any licensing issue, but its original program hasn't been updated since 2009, I think Beagle was removed in 0.9

The last update date of the software tied to the mascot isn't a decisive criteria (otherwise we'd have to start thinking about removing Emule for example, which is a cool character we will keep), but if the associated project is completely abandonned, that's certainly a negative point.

I wasn't giving it as a decisive criterion

I was giving a complement of information. It's one thing to hear an opinion from a forum member on something, and it's another to get the view from a dev team member. Smile

Going back and forth over an interpretation of what's implied by that message (I didn't say you said it's a decisive criterion) derails the thread, so it's best to avoid it and discuss it by PM first if needed.
