Hello,
I play Supertuxkart for years and find the game great for relaxing.
I used to play it on my old laptop with Windows 10 with gamepad, that I just plugged into USB port and it always worked smoothly without need of any configuration.
Now, after my old one broke up, I have new computer with Windows 11, but after installing latest STK version, gamepad doesn´t work like it used to. Directional buttons and analog stick works ok, all other buttons are messed up or doesn´t work at all. I tried to configure them in the menu, but it doesn´t seem to be possible.
I tried two different gamepads on two computers, laptop with W11 and desktop computer with W11 Pro, but outcome is alwas same.
May someone advise me what to do?

SuperTuxKart relies on SDL2 for gamepad support, which usually makes it compatible with a lot of devices.
We are not aware of specific issues with Windows 11 compared to older Windows versions, but these things are not always predictable...
The fact that the same gamepad worked fine with Windows 10 hints at a change in how the system handles the gamepad rather than the game having a problem with that specific make.
What you could try:
- Test some other games. If different games suffer from issues too, it may be something that's not specific to SuperTuxKart
- Tell us the gamepad model so we could check for potential known issues with SDL2 games.
- Start SuperTuxKart with the command line parameter "--gamepad-debug". Look up with a search how to start a Windows program with command line parameters, it's a bit more complicated than on Linux but still manageable. Then, test your different inputs. In gamepad debug mode, the game will output data in the log each time any gamepad input is activated. Comparing what shows up in the log with your inputs could potentially help find the source of the problem.
We can't guarantee a fix though.

I tried to reconfigure one more time and it seems to work during gameplay, but in the menu i must use mouse. I can move in menu with gamepad, but button for confirming for some reason doesn´t work. It´s not perfect, but I can play now.
I tried some other games, some works fine, some has little issues.
Gamepad model is C-Tech Callon. Other gamepad I tried was Daewoo, I am not sure about exact model, it was cheap controller for 10 euros from Tesco.
This "command line parameter" stuff is too difficult for me, I am not very tech skilled, but I try some of my friends to help me with it sometime.
Anyway, thanks for your answer and thanks all STK team for great game.
