The Discord server exists and is available for anyone who wishes to use it, but it remains unofficial.
Irrelevant chatter is fairly common, so it's more a place for small chatter than for serious discussions. Discord closed nature also doesn't mesh well with the project and it can have practical consequences (a former STK developer was banned for flimsy reasons).
Discord is also very poor when it comes to making archived answers easy to find, so interesting conversations get buried without the discoverability that exists on a forum.
